SUMMARY:Eesti Keel algaja | Estonian Language Classes (Beginners)
DESCRIPTION:You might have heard the joke “Estonian has no sex and no future” before\, referring of course to the fact that there are no genders and no future tense in the Estonian language. With 8 dialects and 117 subdialects\, and 14 different case forms it can be quite a daunting task to learn on your own but the pay off is rewarding! To help you join over 1 million Estonian speakers (and 5 million Finns)\, we have dedicated beginners Estonian classes every Wednesday hosted by Maris Saar\, a professional teacher who will guide you in the process.\nClasses are held every Wednesday from 6:45-8:15pm at Estonian House and new learners are always welcome! Please note some classes may be held over Zoom. Do not hesitate to contact Maris on marissaar@hotmail.com for any questions or inquiries.

SUMMARY:Estonian Archives in Australia (EAA)
DESCRIPTION:The Estonian Archives in Australia (EAA) was established by the Council of Estonian Societies in Australia on 5 January 1952. The first archivist was Alexander Peel\, a year later Dr Hugo Salasoo was appointed as the archivist\, a position he held for nearly 40 years. He was succeeded by his son\, Dr Inno Salasoo. In 1994\, following the move of the archive from Dr Salasoo’s house\, Maie Barrow was appointed as the archivist. EAA is one of the three big Estonian Archives existing outside Estonia and holds an important collection of material relating to the lives and achievements of Estonians living in Australia. Terry Kass is the current Archivist.\nSince 1994 the Archive has been housed in Estonian House\, 141 Campbell St\, Surry Hills\, not far from the centre of Sydney. EAA is funded for day to day expenses by the Council of Estonian Societies\, the parent body for Estonian organisations in Australia and by donations from the public. The Archive is now located downstairs on the lower ground floor of Sydney Estonian House and is facilitated by grants from the ECFA and the Sydney Estonian Co-op.\nThe archive during normal operating hours is open Thursdays 10am to 3pm\nArchives contact: archives@eesti.org.au
